AmCham invites you our members to join a committee. Participation in a committee ensures that you enjoy full benefits of your membership. 

Below are brief descriptions and highlights of each committee over the past two years. 

 

Business Linkages
 
The business linkages committee focuses on fostering business between Zambia and U.S companies. This entails sharing and relaying information and advice with other AmCham committees about business trade barriers, concerns and governmental policy matters. 
In the recent past, the business linkages committee has promulgated linkages not only within the committee but through:

Exposure of AmCham members through participation in the following local trade shows
-Copperbelt Mining and Trade Expo May 5-6 2014
-Copperbelt Agriculture Show May 27-31 2014
-Lusaka Agriculture Show, August
-Zambia International Trade Fair, July 2015

Professional Development

The main purpose of this committee is to deepen organizational capacity building through facilitating events that enhance the professional knowledge, skills, and attitudes (KSAs) of members.
A fairly new committee, it’s duties include facilitating discussion forums and skills building workshops featuring members and guest speakers.

Fellowship

The primary focus of the Fellowship committee is to promote member to member interaction. The committee does this by organizing flagship events to keep up with AmCham brands and traditions.

Some of the linchpin events promoted in this committee include the following:

-Business Networking Cocktail, Sky Bar, 20th August 2015 
-Jazz and Blues Night, Misty Lounge, June 12th 2015
– Golf Tournament, Lusaka Golf Club, September 2015
-Thanksgiving Dinner, InterContinental Hotel November 2014 , 2015

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)

This committee focuses on promoting Corporate Social Responsibility among AmCham members while building a status for the Chamber as a leading advocate and fosterer for CSR. The CSR committee shares and promotes information on the best CSR practices through forums and highlighting membership and NGO partnership in CSR projects. 

In recent years the CSR committee has held the following:

Corporate Social Responsibility Committee Terms of Reference

 

Advocacy 

The committee’s main objective is to enhance the position of the Chamber as a policy advisor to the governments of the United States (USG) and Zambia (GRZ) with a particular focus on private sector policy formulation and implementation.  Additionally, the Committee seeks to enhance its function through the development of more partnerships with other institutions.  The committee has in the past released the following Policy Briefs as a means to speaks out on behalf of our members:
