AmCham Zambia hosted a presentation in conjunction with the Zambia Development Agency (ZDA).The presentation by ZDA focused on business development services, investment opportunities, investment environment, incentive framework, reforms to improve business environment and business registration. The agency introduced  the services provided by the One Stop Shop for Business registration (OSSBR). This facility allows for new companies to have all their registration needs met under one roof. In addition to PACRA registration, the facility processes tax registration and social security registration for employees. The presentation was sponsored by and held at the Best Western Hotel PLUS Lusaka Grand.


The first AmCham networking cocktail of the year brought to stage two individuals leading USAID funded projects; Charlene Bangwe- Women at Work coordinator and Iris Young- Chief Education officer -USAID. Charlene discussed partnership opportunities for companies and individuals under the program which is in collaboration with Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI).

Women at Work project was soliciting for partnerships with companies to collaborate in implementing its yearlong internship program for YALI candidates. Women at Work coordinator also   requested for professionals and entrepreneurs to participate in a yearlong mentorship program for female YALI candidates.

Iris Young, USAID Chief Education Officer, presented projects under implementation in the institution’s Education section. The partnerships required were in form of sponsorship of youth as change agents, sponsorship for orphans and vulnerable children and sponsorship of reading tools amongst others. 

The cocktail was held at Hotel InterContinental in the Safari Bar.



American Chamber of Commerce in joint efforts with Microsoft Eastern and Southern Africa office (ESA) hosted a master class at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Lusaka. Microsoft dubbed their presentation “Safeguarding Your Business from evolving threats with modern IT protection.” The event that targeted heads of IT and business decision makers from AmCham’s member institutions discussed solutions to modern day threats offered by Microsoft.

The American Chamber participated in the 5th Zambia International Invested Forum organised by the Ministry of Commerce Trade and Industry, Zambia Development Agency and Home Strings. The ZIIF held at Mulungushi International Conference Centre was this year themed ‘Investment for Industrialisation Wealth and Job Creation”. Attendees of the forum were local and international delegates ranging from industry experts, business decision makers and investors. His Excellency President Edgar Chagwa Lungu officially opened the ZIIF and visited the exhibition hall.


AmCham held it’s 2016 Annual General Meeting on April 26th at the US Embassy. The meeting, graced by US Ambassador Eric Schultz, was well attended by Chamber members. Proceeding from the AGM was a cocktail held in the embassy atrium. Guest of Honour  at the cocktail Ms. Kayula Siame, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment in working with AmCham to promote Chamber objectives.



The Chamber participated in the 2nd Annual Zambia international Property EXPO held at Mulungushi International Conference Center which was hosted by leading companies in the industry.  The ZIP Expo, brought together the real estate community – developers, banks, government agencies, construction trades and consumers – to showcase, network, unveil and inform.

The Exhibition and conference program featured important keynotes and valuable consumer information, from financing to investment insights. Leaders in the Zambia real estate shared their knowledge. The EXPO was officiated by Honorable Margaret Mwanakatwe.

The American Chamber of Commerce in Zambia was proud to support the 6th Zambia International Mining and Energy Conference & Exhibition. The event held at Government Complex on the 23rd – 24th June 2016 brought together high level speakers, captains of industry and business owners. The Chamber had an opportunity to exhibit in the exhibition hall that housed both the Zambia Build and the ZIMEC with exhibitors from all over the world.

The American Chamber of Commerce in Zambia hosted an International Chambers of Commerce panel discussion in partnership with the European Union Business Club and British Chamber of Commerce. The panel had representatives from the Zambian government; Ministry of Commerce Trade and Industry and the Zambia Development Agency and the three chambers. The discussion focused on Commerce, Trade and Industrialization as highlighted in the President’s speech during the opening of parliament in September, 2016, particularly with regard to the developing an Industrialization Policy and a Trade, Investment and Enterprise Development Bill to facilitate non-traditional exports and joint ventures between local and foreign investors.



American Chamber of Commerce in Zambia hosted its Annual Thanksgiving Dinner on the 18th November, 2016 to celebrate the traditional American holiday and be a part of the American-Zambian cultural and business exchange.

The wonderful evening of giving thanks included a scrumptious meal with Thanksgiving dinner turkey, live music from Uncle Rex and band, trivia and outstanding performance from the Dreams Zambia show finalists.
